"Big Daddy" Roth's Mail Box Chopper Rides Again To Deliver Excitement!

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's Mail Box Chopper was originally released in 1972 (under the same name) in MPC's 1/25 Scale "Cycle Series". It was never seen again - until now! Being the very first release in the Flashback Vintage Model Kit Reissue Program, we needed to make this limited edition kit something really special. First, we contacted Ilene Roth who was very supportive and excited about our project and gave us the green light. Thanks, Ilene!

PARTS - One of our ideas for all the MPC Trick Trike reissues was to include three sets of transparent parts, one molded in clear and the other two in translucent red and blue. This would make it really easy to install colorful tinted windows, or even tinted headlight lenses for a crazy custom look! The rest of the parts are molded in white for easy painting as requested by modelers and there's plenty of chrome.

PACKAGING - Retro Hobby LOVES original box art, but for our first group of releases, we wanted to do something really colorful and cool. We got on the horn with our good friend and renowned automotive illustrator "Diamond Dave" Marek, (Dave is a huge Roth fan!) to have him create groovy illustrations for the new packaging. Then Retro Hobby's Johnny "Von Retro" Greczula laid out the box panels and brought it all together.

DECALS - For the decal sheet, we've included the original kit's decals (all 3 of them) and then added flames, pinstripes and much more! Von Retro even recreated an original 3.5" 1963 Roth Studios Rat Fink (TM) decal to include as a bonus! We not talkin' scans here folks, every microscopic detail of an original was painstakingly redrawn for an incredibly faithful reproduction - worthy of collecting... or slapping on your fridge or lunch box!

HOUSE! - But that wasn't enough. We called up those insanely talented artists at House Industries to ask about including some of the wild "Monster Icons" from their Roth "Rat Fink Fonts" typeface collection on the decal sheet. House's Prez Andy Cruz was super cool and gave us a big thumbs up! The selected icons were colorized, slogans were added and presto! Even more decal options for decorating your model. Thanks, Andy! Your Mail Box is "in the mail"!

NEWTON!! - But that STILL wasn't enough for the Mail Box Chopper kit. We were gettin' serious. We needed Ed "Newt" Newton! You heard right, man! THE Ed Newton! We put the word out and Newt contacted us. After some great conversation, a plan was made to include a bonus postcard in the kit featuring fantastic new artwork painted by Newt. It's been done in a style reminiscent of the wild "Monster T-Shirts" Newt helped to popularize in the 60s. What's more, Retro Hobby is going to offer the artwork in a special limited edition large-format collectible print run of only 125 pieces, available only through the Kustom Gallery!

Big Daddy Roth, you are an inspiration and will always be remembered. This Mail Box Chopper reissue is a tribute to you!

We hope the rest of you cool cats enjoy building and collecting this very special limited release of "Big Daddy" Roth's Mail Box Chopper. We're honored to be able to bring it to you and it's available as part of the exclusive MPC Trick Trike Series four-kit set! Grab 'em while you can, 'cause they ain't gonna' last long!

Collector's Note: Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's Mail Box Chopper was originally released in 1972 under the same name, in MPC's 1/25 Scale Cycle Series. Kit number 1-2400.
